Building Playlists and Content
Create verses, announcements, custom content, and more. Add items to playlists and control what appears on your screens.
Overview
Your display screens show prayer times by default — but you can add verses, announcements, events, and custom content to create a richer experience. Content lives in the Content Library; playlists decide what appears on each screen and in what order.
On the Growth plan, you have unlimited playlists and slides. This guide describes the full workflow. If you are on Free or Starter, see the section at the end for limits and workarounds.
Content Types
The Content Library supports several content types. Each has a distinct purpose and display style:
- Announcement — Important notices for your community
- Verse / Hadith — Quran verse or Hadith with Arabic and translation
- Custom Content — Any text or message you want to display
- 99 Names of Allah — The beautiful names with Arabic and meaning (Starter+)
- Dua — Supplication with Arabic, transliteration and translation (Starter+)
- Event — Upcoming events with date and details (Starter+)
- Donation — QR code for general or campaign giving (Starter+)
Free plan content limits
On the Free plan, you only have access to Announcement, Verse/Hadith, and Custom content. The 99 Names of Allah, Dua, Event, and Donation types require Starter or above.
Creating Content
Content is created in the Content Library and can be reused across multiple playlists.
- 1
Open the Content Library
In the admin dashboard, go to Playlists → Content Library. You will see all existing content items. - 2
Click Add Content
Choose the content type you want to create. Each type has a form tailored to its purpose — e.g. Verse/Hadith lets you search and select a verse, Custom lets you enter free text. - 3
Fill in the details
Enter a title (used for organisation), the main content, and set a display duration in seconds. Longer content may need more time for worshippers to read. - 4
Save
The content is saved to your library and can now be added to any playlist.
Using templates
If you are new to playlists, start from a template. Go to Playlists → Templates to browse pre-built playlists (e.g. Ramadan, Jumuah, General) that you can duplicate and customise.
Building Playlists
A playlist is an ordered list of content that cycles on your screens. You add items from the Content Library, drag to reorder, and assign the playlist to one or more screens.
- 1
Go to My Playlists
In the sidebar, click Playlists → My Playlists. - 2
Create a new playlist
Click Create Playlist, give it a name (e.g. Weekday Main, Jumuah, Ramadan), and optionally a description. - 3
Add content
Open the playlist editor. Click Add Content and select items from your Content Library. You can also add content directly from the library with the Add to Playlist action. - 4
Reorder with drag and drop
Drag items up or down to change the order. The first item appears first when the playlist runs. - 5
Assign to screens
In the playlist settings or from the Screens page, assign this playlist to the screens where you want it to appear.
Tip
Each content item has a duration. The total playlist length is the sum of all item durations. For a 5-minute cycle, aim for roughly 300 seconds total across your slides.
Working Within Free or Starter Limits
Free plan
You have 1 playlist with up to 5 slides, and only Announcement, Verse/Hadith, and Custom content types.
- Prioritise your 5 most important slides — e.g. prayer times widget, one verse, one announcement, one custom notice.
- Use Custom content for simple announcements if you cannot use Event or Donation types.
- Consider upgrading to Starter for more playlists, more slides, and full content types.
Starter plan
You have 2 playlists with up to 7 slides each, and full content types.
- Split content across two playlists — e.g. "Weekday" and "Jumuah" — and swap manually when needed.
- With 7 slides per playlist, choose what matters most — you cannot include everything.
- Upgrade to Growth for unlimited playlists and slides, plus time-based scheduling.
