Why it matters
Fewer people carry cash, and bank details put people off
Many people now give by phone. Asking them to type in a sort code and account number loses gifts, and a bank transfer doesn't tell you which appeal the money was for.
A donate page takes a card or phone payment in a few taps and records what each gift was for.
How giving works in MasjidConnect
Connect your masjid's Stripe account, then share your donate link or put its QR code on a poster or a screen slide. Donors choose an appeal, such as Zakat, Sadaqah or the building fund, and the amount.
Gifts can be one-off or every week, month or year. Every donor gets a receipt, and you can download everything for your accounts.
Donors who pay UK tax tick one box for Gift Aid. When you claim, the portal fills in HMRC's spreadsheet for you. With a Masjid licence you can also bring in payments taken on a SumUp card reader, so all your giving is in one place.
Giving works on every plan, including Free. We take 2.5% of each online gift on Free and 1% on a paid licence, plus the card company's fee. Donors can choose to cover the fees.

Common questions
What is the best way for a masjid to take donations online?
A donate page that takes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with a QR code people can scan in the masjid. MasjidConnect gives you one, paid into your masjid's own Stripe account, with regular giving and Gift Aid records built in.
What payments can donors use?
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe, as a one-off gift or every week, month or year. With the Masjid licence you can also bring in payments taken on a SumUp card reader in the masjid.
Can donors give Zakat and Sadaqah separately?
Yes. Set up an appeal for each, such as Zakat, Sadaqah, Lillah or Qurbani. Each one has its own page and total in the portal.
Do you help with Gift Aid?
Yes. Your giving page asks donors if they pay UK tax, and one tick saves a proper declaration. When you claim, the portal fills in HMRC's Gift Aid spreadsheet for you to upload in Charities Online, and works out your small donations top-up. Your masjid needs to be registered with HMRC as a charity first.
How much does it cost?
Online giving is on every plan, including Free, so you don't need a paid licence to use it. We take 2.5% of each online gift on the Free plan and 1% on a paid licence, plus the card company's fee. Donors can choose to cover the fees so the masjid gets the full amount.
Can donations show on our hall screens?
Yes. Add an appeal slide with a QR code and the amount raised so far, and it runs between prayers on the same screens as your prayer times.
