Gift Aid

Take donations online and claim Gift Aid without the paperwork

Donors give to your masjid from home or by scanning a QR code. If they pay UK tax they tick one box, and MasjidConnect keeps the declaration and fills in the spreadsheet you send to HMRC.

Why it matters

Gift Aid is worth 25p on every pound, and most masjids miss it

If a donor pays UK tax, a registered charity can claim an extra 25p for every £1 they give. Many masjids never claim, because collecting the paperwork from each donor feels like too much.

When the declaration is part of the giving page, the work is done at the moment of the gift. You do not chase anyone later.

How it works for your committee and your donors

A donor opens your giving page on their phone, picks Zakat, Sadaqah or a campaign, and pays by card. If they pay UK tax, one tick saves a proper Gift Aid declaration. Donors get a receipt by email.

When you are ready to claim, the portal fills in HMRC's Gift Aid spreadsheet. You upload it in Charities Online. It also works out the small gifts top-up on cash and contactless gifts. Your masjid needs to be registered with HMRC as a charity first. Until you add your HMRC reference, Gift Aid stays switched off.

Every campaign has its own page and a progress bar. You can show the total on your hall screens, so the community can see how close you are.

Online giving is on every plan, including Free. The fee is 2.5% on the Free plan and 1% on a paid licence, plus card fees. Donors can choose to cover the fees so the masjid gets the full amount.

From a masjid that uses it

The product can adapt to the needs of the masjid rather than the masjid having to adapt to the software.

“In my experience, MasjidConnect represents very good value for money, particularly when you take into account the functionality, flexibility and excellent customer support.”
