Keep your screens up to date

Your screens update themselves overnight, so you usually don't need to do anything. Here's how it works and how to update a screen straight away.

Automatic updates

  • Display Unit: every night at about 5 am UK time (4 am in winter), it checks for a new version, installs it and restarts. It takes a minute or two.
  • Browser on a TV or computer: it loads the newest version whenever the page opens, and refreshes itself overnight.
  • MasjidConnect TV on a Google TV, Android TV or Fire TV Stick: prayer times and slides update with the hosted display. You don't install it again for those.

A screen that's switched off or offline overnight updates the next night it's on.

Update a screen straight away

When a newer version is out, the screen's card in My Screens says Update ready and when it will install itself.

    Press Install now on the screen's card

    Press Install now again to check

    The screen goes blank for 2 to 3 minutes while it updates, then comes back by itself.

The screen must be on for this to work.

Good to know

Don't update during Jumu'ah or close to jamaat. The screen restarts as part of the update.

Why it matters

Some new features need the newest version on the screen. For example, the weekly donation total needs version 1.12.1 or newer. Older screens carry on working, but without the new feature.
