Add members
Add someone yourself
- 1
Open Members then Directory, and press Add Member
- 2
Fill in their details
Only the name is needed. Add email, phone, address, family and an emergency contact if you have them.
- 3
Press Save Member
They're given a member number such as MC-00001.
Let people sign themselves up
Open portal.masjidconnect.co.uk/members/settings. Under Public Registration, copy the link and share it. People fill in their details and choose a membership plan. If they pick a paid plan, they show as pending until you record their payment.
Members are separate from people who follow your masjid in the Community app. Following in the app doesn't make someone a member.
Bring in a list you already have
- 1
Save your list as a CSV file
In Excel, choose File, Save As, then CSV UTF-8. The first row must be the column names, with one member on each row after it.
- 2
Open Members then Member Directory, and press Import
You can also press Import CSV on the Members settings page.
- 3
Choose your file
The portal tells you how many members it found and which columns it will use. Only Name is needed. It also reads Email, Phone, Address, Gender, Date of birth, Nationality and Occupation.
- 4
Press Add members
Take care
Importing adds everyone as new members. If you import the same file twice, they'll be added twice. Dates of birth are read as day/month/year.
Good to know
To download your whole list as a spreadsheet, press Export CSV on the Members settings page. A file from Export CSV can be imported again as it is.
Families and membership plans
- Families: press Create Family to group a household. Then choose the family on each member's details.
- Membership Plans: press Create Plan for each kind of membership, such as a yearly membership or a funeral fund. Set the amount and how often it's paid: monthly, quarterly, yearly, once or free. Active plans appear on the sign-up form.
To put someone on a plan, open their page and press Assign Plan.
Record membership payments
- 1
Open Members then Payments, and press Record Payment
- 2
Pick the member and their plan
- 3
Enter the amount, how they paid (cash, bank transfer, cheque or other) and the date, then save
When a membership runs out without a payment, it's marked overdue and the member is emailed a reminder automatically. The Members dashboard shows how many are overdue.
If you've connected Stripe or SumUp in Settings then Online giving, a member's page also has buttons to take a card payment. These open the payment page on your own device, so use them when the member is with you.
Committees
Open Members then Committees and press Create Committee. Add its members with their roles, and keep a record of meetings, agendas and minutes.
Take care
Active committees, with the names and roles of their members, are shown on your masjid's About page in the Community app. If a committee shouldn't be public, set it to inactive.
Email your members
- 1
Open Members then Communication, and start a new message
- 2
Choose Email, type a subject and your message
- 3
Choose who gets it
All active members, members picked by status, tag or plan, or people you choose one by one.
- 4
Send it
Members without an email address are skipped and shown as failed in the list.
The Notification option only notes the message on each member's record. It doesn't reach anyone's phone, so use Email.
