Getting started

Find your way round the portal

What each part of the Dashboard tells you, how the menu is laid out, and where to find help while you work. Most of it works the same on a phone.

The Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first page you see after logging in. It shows what is happening today and anything that needs you. It updates itself every two minutes, so you can leave it open.

Today

The dark band at the top shows today's date, the Islamic date, the next jamaat with a countdown, and every start and jamaat time for today. On a Friday it shows Jumu'ah in place of Zuhr. On a computer it also shows a line across the day with which playlist each screen is showing and when, plus today's events.

Needs you

A short list of things to sort out. Each one has a button that takes you to the right page. You'll see things like:

  • A screen has gone offline. Check its power and internet.
  • There are no prayer times for today, or your times run out soon.
  • The clocks are about to change. Check your jamaat times still look right.
  • People have booked an event and are waiting for you to approve them.
  • Questions are waiting for the imam in the Community app.

When there is nothing to do, it says so.

Quick actions

  • Send to screens now puts an urgent message on every screen. See Send an urgent notice to your screens.
  • Change jamaat times opens your prayer times.
  • Add an announcement makes a new announcement slide.
  • Send an app notification sends a message to people's phones, if your masjid is in the Community app.

Screens, This week, Community and Giving

  • Screens shows how many screens are online and what each one is showing.
  • This week lists jamaat time changes, Jumu'ah and events for the next seven days.
  • Community shows how many people follow your masjid in the Community app, your last notification and any Ask the Imam questions.
  • Giving shows this month's donations, split into online, card readers and money added by hand, plus your current appeal.

You only see the parts your plan includes and your role allows. For example, the Giving box only shows for people allowed to see the masjid's money.

Using the portal on a phone

Open portal.masjidconnect.co.uk in your phone's web browser and log in. There's nothing to install. Along the bottom you get five buttons:

  • Home for the Dashboard
  • Prayer times to change jamaat times
  • Announce to send an urgent message to your screens (paid licences only)
  • Playlists to change what screens show
  • Menu for everything else

Good to know

Add the portal to your phone's home screen so it opens like an app. On an iPhone, press Share then Add to Home Screen. On Android, press the three dots then Add to Home screen.

Getting help on any page

Press the round ? button. On a computer it's in the bottom right corner; on a phone it's at the top. It opens help for the page you're on: the guides for that page, which you can read without leaving the portal, and a Show me how section that walks you through the page step by step. Use the search box to look through every guide.

To see what we've changed lately, open What's new in the menu. A dot appears next to it when there's something you haven't read.
