Overview

MasjidConnect’s real-time screen announcements let you push a message to every paired display in your masjid simultaneously — with zero delay. The announcement appears as a full-screen overlay on all screens and can be set to expire automatically.

Common uses include:

  • Jumuah time changes or last-minute schedule updates
  • Janazah announcements
  • Facility notices (e.g. car park full, cleaning in progress)
  • Community messages (Eid Mubarak, event reminders)
  • Urgent safety information

Note

Screen announcements are available on the Essentials plan and above. The Free plan does not include real-time announcements.

Sending an Announcement

  1. 1

Go to Announcements in the admin dashboard

In the left sidebar, click Announcements, then click the New Announcement button.
  2. 2

    Write your message

Enter a concise title and, optionally, a short body message. Keep the title short — it needs to be readable at a distance on a screen.
  3. 3

    Choose a category

Select the category that best describes the announcement. Each category has a distinct colour on screen to help worshippers recognise the type of notice at a glance.
  4. 4

    Set the urgency level

Choose Normal for routine messages, Urgent for time-sensitive notices that require immediate attention.
  5. 5

    Set expiry

Choose how long the announcement should remain on screen. After expiry, all screens automatically revert to their normal prayer times display — no manual action needed.
  6. 6

    Send to screens

Click Send Announcement. The message will appear on all paired, online screens within seconds.

Tip

You can also send announcements directly from the admin dashboard home page using the quick-send panel — useful when speed matters, such as during a Jumuah.

Announcement Categories

Categories give each announcement a distinct colour code so worshippers can quickly understand the nature of a notice:

  • Schedule — prayer time changes, Jumuah time updates
  • Community — general community messages, Eid greetings, event reminders
  • Janazah — funeral notices and prayers
  • Facility — car park, cleaning, building notices

The colour coding helps worshippers understand the type of notice before they read the full message.

Urgency Levels

Normal

Used for routine notices. The announcement overlays the screen in the standard colour for the category.

Urgent

Used for time-critical notices that require immediate attention — such as a safety matter or a prayer time change that is about to occur. Urgent announcements display with enhanced visual prominence.

Warning

Reserve ‘Urgent’ for genuinely time-sensitive matters. If every announcement is marked urgent, worshippers will stop treating them as important.

Auto-Expiry

Every announcement has an expiry time. Once reached, all screens automatically revert to their normal display — you do not need to manually dismiss the announcement on each screen.

Recommended expiry times

  • Jumuah time changes — 2 hours (covers the period up to and after the prayer)
  • Janazah notices — until after the janazah prayer (set manually based on timing)
  • Event reminders — until the event starts
  • Facility notices — as needed (e.g. 30 minutes for car park notice)

You can manually dismiss an active announcement early from the Announcements page by clicking the Dismiss button next to the active announcement.

Best Practices

Keep titles short and clear

Display screens are read from a distance. Aim for titles of 5–8 words that can be understood immediately. Avoid abbreviations that not everyone will recognise.

Avoid sending too many announcements

Worshippers notice less when announcements are constant. Reserve screen announcements for information that is genuinely time-sensitive or urgently needed on screens.

Plan ahead for Jumuah

If you frequently need to update Jumuah times, consider scheduling the announcement in advance. You can set a future start time for any announcement so it appears automatically at the right moment.

Test before relying on it

Send a test announcement when you first set up your screens to verify all screens receive it. This also confirms your Wi-Fi is stable enough for real-time updates.
