Get your masjid on the Community app

MasjidConnect Community is a free app on iPhone now, with Android coming soon. People pick your masjid and get your prayer times, announcements, events and more on their phone, all from what you already put in the portal.

Getting listed

Every Masjid and Network licence includes a listing in the Community app. There's nothing to switch on. Once your licence is active, people can find your masjid by searching its name, town or postcode in the app.

It's one shared app called MasjidConnect Community. When someone picks your masjid, the app shows your name, logo and colour.

Tell your congregation

Open Community app. Under Get more people on it you'll find everything you need:

  • Download A4 poster: a poster with a QR code to print and put up in the masjid.
  • Add a screen slide to my slides (paid plans): a ready-made slide of the poster. It goes in your slides and you add it to whichever playlist you like. It can't be edited, but you can press Update the screen slide if your logo or name changes.
  • A link, masjidconnect.co.uk/app, that opens the App Store on iPhone. Android is coming soon, so Android phones open the Community app page for now.
  • A message ready to paste into your WhatsApp groups.

When people open the app, they search for your masjid and choose it, then allow notifications. Nobody needs an account. An announcement after Jumu'ah works well too.

What people see in the app

  • Home: a countdown to the next jamaat, a sun-arc of the day's prayers, and today's start and jamaat times. People can mark a prayer as prayed.
  • Prayers: the week ahead, from your timetable, with a reminder for each prayer. See Add your prayer times.
  • Quran: the reader, with a translation, bookmarks and audio, when you leave it on.
  • Masjid: notices, events people can book, a link to your donation page when giving is on, and About. See Add an announcement, Add events and take bookings and Take donations online and by card.
  • More: the Qibla compass, Ask the imam when you have it on, and the prayer tracker. On iPhone, settings also explain the home-screen widget. See Answer questions with Ask the Imam.
  • About, inside Masjid: your description, address, contact details, opening hours, social links and active committees. Edit them on Community app → Your masjid page.

Your masjid page, colour and features

  1. 1

Open Community app then Your masjid page

  2. 2

Add your logo, a few lines about the masjid, opening hours and how to reach you

The phone on the right shows the app's Masjid tab as you type.

  3. 3

    Pick one colour

It's used for buttons, tabs and highlights. Choose one of the six or type your own colour code.

  4. 4

Under What people can use, turn off anything you don't run

You can turn off notices, events, Give, Ask the imam, the Quran and prayer reminders.

  5. 5

    Press Save

Changes reach phones the next time someone opens the app. When Give is off it still shows in the app, with a note asking people to speak to you. Turning off Ask the imam also hides it in the portal.

How many people follow you

The Community app overview and the Dashboard show your followers. A follower is a phone with your masjid chosen that has opened the app in the last 90 days, with or without an account. The overview also shows how many opened the app in the last 30 days, how many get your notifications, new followers each week and how many use iPhone or Android.
