This week's figures

Open Donations. The Overview shows what's been given this week. A giving week runs from Saturday to Friday, so Jumu'ah collections land at the end of the week they belong to.

  • The dark band shows the total, how it compares with last week, and how it splits into Card readers, Online and app, and Cash and bank.
  • Needs you reminds you about cash that usually gets recorded but hasn't been yet, donors waiting for a receipt, and card reader takings that haven't come in for a couple of days.
  • Campaigns shows your running appeals and how close each is to its target.
  • Latest gifts and Last 6 weeks show recent giving.

Only money that has actually arrived is counted. Refunded and failed payments are left out. Online amounts are before card fees, so the bank will receive a little less.

Take care

Only Admins and Masjid Admins can see Donations. Imams, volunteers and viewers can't.

Find a donation

Open All donations to see every gift. Use the chips at the top to narrow it down:

  • Period: this week, last week, this month, the last three months or all time.
  • How: card reader, online, Community app, cash, bank transfer or cheque.
  • Campaign and Type, such as Zakat or Sadaqah.
  • The search box finds a name, email or receipt number.

A Jumu'ah collection shows each box underneath, for example the main hall box and the sisters' box.

Download for your accounts

  1. 1

On All donations, set the filters

For example, Period set to This month.

  2. 2

    Press Download for your accounts

You get a spreadsheet with the date, donor, how it was given, what it was for, campaign, amount and receipt number for every gift in the list.

There isn't a separate reports page yet. This download is what to give your treasurer.

Receipts

  • People who give online with an email address get a receipt by email automatically.
  • For cash and card reader gifts, press the three dots on the donation and choose Email receipt or Download receipt.
  • The receipt shows your masjid's name, address and charity number, taken from Masjid Details.

If the donor said yes to Gift Aid, the receipt says so and has a link to change or stop it. Yearly donor statements aren't in MasjidConnect yet.

Gift Aid

If a donor pays UK tax, HMRC adds 25p to every £1 they give. Go to Donations, then Gift Aid.

  • Open Settings on the Gift Aid page. Type your charity name as HMRC has it and your HMRC charity reference, then turn Gift Aid on. You need to be registered with HMRC and signed up to Charities Online first.
  • Your giving page then asks donors to add Gift Aid. One tick saves their name, house and postcode as an HMRC declaration. It covers that gift, their future gifts and their gifts from the past 4 years.
  • Paper forms count too. Press Add a paper form and type in what the donor wrote.
  • When you want to claim, press Start a claim. Check the gifts, download HMRC's spreadsheet, upload it in Charities Online, then type HMRC's reference back in. Those gifts are marked as claimed so nobody claims them twice.
  • Cash collections and contactless card reader gifts of £30 or less can get a small gifts top-up as well, up to £8,000 of gifts a year. The claim page tells you the total to type into Charities Online.
  • Donors can change their details or stop Gift Aid from the link on their receipt. You can also change or stop a declaration yourself on the Gift Aid page.

Donors

The Donors tab builds a list of everyone who has given with their name, with how much and how often they give. It fills itself in from donations, so there's nothing to type. Card reader gifts are anonymous and don't appear. Recurring Donors shows people who give every week, month or year.
