Run an appeal

Raise money for something specific, like a roof repair or Ramadan food parcels, with a target, a progress bar on your screens and a link people can share.

Start an appeal

    Open Donations then Campaigns, and press Start a campaign

  2. 2

    Name it and set a target

    Use a name people will recognise, such as "New roof". Add a short description and the amount you need.

    Choose the Type of giving

    For example General, Zakat or Building fund.

    Set the start date and, if you like, an end date

    Leave Status on Running to make it live now, or choose Draft to finish it later. Drafts don't show anywhere.

    Press Start campaign

You can add a picture by pasting a link to an image under Cover image. It's used when the appeal is shared on WhatsApp or Facebook.

Get the word out

Click the appeal to open its page. Under Share this appeal you'll find a QR code, the link with Copy, a WhatsApp button, and Poster and more for a picture to share.

To put it on your screens, press Add a donation slide and make a Donation slide for this appeal. See Show giving on your screens.

Running appeals also show on the Donate tab in the Community app, for masjids taking online gifts through Stripe.

Good to know

Sharing needs an online donate page. If it's off, the share panel tells you. See Take donations online and by card.

How the total goes up

  • Online gifts count when the donor chooses the appeal or uses its link or QR code.
  • Cash counts when you pick the appeal under Counts toward as you record it.
  • Card reader payments count once you edit them and pick the appeal.

The appeal's page shows the total, the number of gifts, this week's amount, and how the money came in.

Finish an appeal

When you've reached the target or it's over, press Edit and set Status to Finished. That takes it off your screens and donate page.

Take care

The end date doesn't stop an appeal by itself. It keeps running until you set it to Finished, so remember to do it.

Use Paused to take it down for a while without finishing it.
